Yvonne is a Paediatric Neurologist at Ubuntu Neurology and a consultant at other hospitals in Nairobi. She completed her fellowship in Paediatric Neurology at BC Children’s Vancouver, Canada, affiliated with the University of British Columbia. She is the current chairperson of the East African Child Neurology Association. She is a training instructor for the Paediatric Epilepsy Training Course provided in collaboration with the British Paediatric Neurology Association.

Maureen is a Consultant Paediatric Neurologist at a Ubuntu Neurology and at Kiambu County. She completed her Paediatric Neurology fellowship from the Aga Khan University Teaching and Referral Hospital in Nairobi. She is a training instructor for the Paediatric Epilepsy Training Course which is provided in collaboration with the British Paediatric Neurology Association. She has research interests in Epilepsy and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and is involved in programs to facilitate access to care for Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

Paediatric/Child Neurologist

Sam is a board-certified paediatric neurologist with over 15 years of experience in clinical practice and research in child health and paediatric neurology. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and has a Doctorate from the University of Amsterdam. He is the current chairperson of the African Child Neurology Association and a commission member of the African Chapter of the International League Against Epilepsy.  Through a network of 25 primary healthcare centers (Ubuntu-Afya Kiosks) run by the non-profit affiliate Afya Research Africa, Sam and the team he leads reach out to underserved rural communities to provide crucial care and support to those who need it most. He is involved in advocacy work and has been instrumental in the founding of the Kenyan IBE affiliate, the National Epilepsy Coordination Committee, and the East African Child Neurology Association. Sam has research interests in epilepsy, sickle cell disease, and acute encephalopathies and is committed to advancing the field of paediatric neurology and improving outcomes for children and young adults with complex neurological conditions in the region.

Ann is a consultant pediatrician and child neurologist at Ubuntu Neurology, and at Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital. She undertook her Paediatric Neurology fellowship at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Hospital in Durban, associated with the University of Kwazulu Natal in South Africa. She is a training instructor for the Paediatric Epilepsy Training Course provided in collaboration with the British Paediatric Neurology Association.

Nicholas is a Consultant Paediatric Neurologist at a Ubuntu Neurology and at Nyamira County Hospital. He is also a visiting consultant neurologist in a number of hospitals in Western Kenya. He completed his Paediatric Neurology fellowship from the Aga Khan University Teaching and Referral Hospital in Nairobi. He is a training instructor for the Paediatric Epilepsy Training Course which is provided in collaboration with the British Paediatric Neurology Association, and for Advanced Paediatric Life Support provided in collaboration with Resuscitation Council (UK). He has research interests in Epilepsy and is involved in programs to facilitate access to care by under-served populations.

Donald is the lead pharmacist at Ubuntu Neurology, and at our affiliate . He holds a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology. He leads preparation, dispensing, and management of medication across our centers. He is responsible for ensuring that all necessary specialized medications are available; compounds medications according to prescriptions; and oversees correct dispensation. Additionally, he maintains medication inventory and provides advice to ensure the proper use and storage of medications, with a focus on the safety and well-being of our clients. Donald also handles client engagement and manages appointments.

Dorcas is the Procurement and Administration Lead at Ubuntu Neurology, and at the affiliate Afya Research Africa. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Supplies and Logistics from KCA University and a Diploma in Library Science from the University of Nairobi. She is in charge of both pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical procurement, stock management, and general administrative work.  She has over ten years of experience in procurement and administration roles.

Teresa is a Nursing Officer Neurophysiologist at Ubuntu Neurology. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and Public Health from Kenyatta University, Kenya. She has  certification and training in Paediatric EEG from the International Child Neurology Association (ICNA).  She is a training instructor for the Paediatric Epilepsy Training Course provided in collaboration with the British Paediatric Neurology Association. She also has training and certification in Comprehensive Systematic Review from the Joanna Briggs Institute, University of Adelaide. She has research interests in the utility of Transcranial Doppler Ultrasonography in the assessment of risk of strokes in children with sickle cell disease in the region.

He is a training instructor for the Paediatric Epilepsy Training Course provided in collaboration with the British Paediatric Neurology Association. Oscar is passionate about evidence-based research and has certification in Comprehensive Systematic Review Program from the Joanna Briggs Institute, University of Adelaide. He is involved in research investigating the utility of long-term EEG in supporting epilepsy care, and the effectiveness of EEG use with fewer channels for screening assessments.

Allan is a Nutritionist at Ubuntu Neurology. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Maseno University. He has certification in Ketogenic Diet Therapy for the management of drug-resistant epilepsy from Mathews Friend’s College. He also also holds certification and training in Paediatric EEG from the International Child Neurology Association (ICNA) and Paediatric Epilepsy Training from the British Paediatric Neurology Association. He has undergone training and certification in Comprehensive Systematic Review Program from the Joanna Briggs Institute.

Enock has a degree in Computer Science from the University of Nairobi.  He is involved in programming and maintaining the in-house digital health information system (STONE-HMIS). He is responsible for overseeing all aspects of information technology (IT) and computer systems across our centres. He is involved in managing and strategically planning our centres’ IT infrastructure, including electronic health records (EHR), cybersecurity, hardware, software, network systems, and technology-related policies. He ensures that the hospital’s computer systems are secure, efficient, and compliant with healthcare regulations.

Elizabeth leads operations, monitoring, evaluation, and health research projects for Ubuntu Neurology, and at the affiliate non-profit, Afya Research Africa. She has a Master of Science Degree in Public health and a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Microbiology, both from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. She is an accredited trainer of the Joanna Briggs Institute Comprehensive Systematic Review Training Program. Elizabeth has extensive Experience in research design, qualitative and quantitative methods, data management and analysis, programme monitoring, and evaluation from national and international organizations.

Paul is the Finance and Human Resource Officer at Ubuntu Neurology, and at the affiliate Afya Research Africa. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management from KCA University and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K). He has extensive experience in managing accounts, budgeting, financial reporting, human resources, and statutory compliance for enterprises and non-profits.

His research work involves exploring the determination of paediatric brain death in Kenya, supporting the development of guidelines for brain death determination across various resource settings. He has certification in paediatric epilepsy training from the British Paediatric Neurology Association, and in Ethics in Research, and Good Clinical Practice.

His research work involves describing the prevalence of sleep anomalies and understanding how the duration of sleep varies and impairs academic performance among high school students in Kenya. He has certification in paediatric epilepsy training from the British Paediatric Neurology Association, and in Ethics in Research, and Good Clinical Practice.

Elaine has an Undergraduate Degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Nairobi. She was the best student in Psychiatry at University of Nairobi Class of 2023. She is currently undertaking a research fellowship at Afya Research Africa and a clinical observership at Ubuntu Neurology. Her research work involves determining normal values of TCD measurements in African children, and making observations on TCD measurements among children with Sickle Cell Disease on follow up at Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital, and at Uhai Neema Hospital, in Nairobi, Kenya. She has certification in paediatric epilepsy training from the British Paediatric Neurology Association, and in Ethics in Research, and Good Clinical Practice.
